"Oak Alley Plantation"  (in sepia)  From an original etching by Robert Seago.
Oak Alley Plantation (circa 1832). Framed by a magnificent alleé of 300 year old live oak trees, the plantation house is a fine example of Louisiana classic architecture with center halls dividing rooms on both sides. Situated on the west bank of the Mississippi River near Vacherie, the house is open for tours and includes a creole restaurant with many appetizing dishes.
